Expressive arts therapy
I offer therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and adults. No artistic talent is necessary for these sessions to be successful. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of expressive art therapy, and I am happy to adapt this inter-modal approach to meet each individual’s interests and strengths. I work with the following modalities in these sessions:
What is Expressive arts therapy (EXA)?
EXA uses creative modalities (e.g., music, visual arts, dance-movement, drama, and writing) to promote mental, emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. No artistic talent is necessary for these sessions to be successful. The therapeutic process is not about esthetic value but the expressive aspect. It is about finding associations between your creative choices and your inner life.
EXA is an opportunity to communicate with yourself through a holistic approach, applying each of the artistic disciplines. This process gives you the freedom to be without judgment. You can express yourself in movement, color, clay, or ritual as needed. In this process, the creative self opens up and feels heard. This allows new feelings, thoughts, and insights to emerge and reveals anew state of consciousness through the creative process.
Through EXA, we create a safe setting where you can open up and share your internal conflicts. Then, we share in the creative process without judging nor over-interpreting the work. This enables you to make your own discoveries along the way. I offer empathetic support as a companion on your journey. I know that each of my clients has the capacity to find their own answers, and I am here to help.
